(Wo)man Plans; God Laughs
At Indelible Words, we are Christians who love all people and their stories. Today, I want to share a New Testament Bible passage with you.
Come now, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go to such and such a city, and spend a year there and engage in business and make a profit.” Yet you do not know what your life will be like tomorrow. You are just a vapor that appears for a little while and then vanishes away. Instead, you ought to say, “If the Lord wills, we will live and also do this or that.” James 4: 13-15
It’s a longer version of the proverb: (Wo)man plans; God laughs.
Last fall, we began making plans. We pivoted our core focus to stories that celebrate love and weddings. We overhauled many of our processes and planned for months. Then God laughed.
Not cruelly. Not maliciously. I imagine him laughing like I do when my child makes plans contrary to my own. Good-naturedly. Lovingly. By design.
One-half of our IW human resources is moving to Florida, while the other half is staying in Oklahoma. We are a mother-daughter team and are accustomed to working within high-five distance of one another throughout the normal workweek.
For you, darling reader, the difference may be next to unnoticeable. Our work continues much as it always has, except that we won’t share delicious lunches so often.
We have prepared work assignments and will be available during this time of transition. We continue to book couples’ wedding stories. We continue to create new content on this site, though you may notice brief lulls of quiet.
Just know, it doesn’t matter where in the world we are. What matters is your story.
If the Lord wills, we will live. And also do this or that.
